When you decide to use automatic daily calories, your daily calories are calculated using the revised Harris-Benedict Equation, which you can find below:
For men: BMR = 13.397 * W + 4.799 * H – 5.677 * A + 88.362
For women: BMR = 9.247 * W + 3.098 * H – 4.330 * A + 447.593
W = Weight (kg)
H = Height (cm)
A = Age (years)
The value obtained from this equation is your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). It represents the estimated number of calories you should consume in a day to maintain your body weight, assuming you remain at rest.
This value is then multiplied by an activity factor (which is a number between 1.0 to 1.9) depending on your weekly physical activity level, in order to obtain a more realistic value.
The activity level is defined as:
None = 1.0
Sedentary = 1.2
Light = 1.375
Moderate = 1.55
Intense = 1.725
Extreme = 1.9
In case you want to add your exercises manually in Plantevo, don’t forget to go to your Profile settings and select “None (BMR x 1.0)” in the “Activity” drop-down list. If you don’t want to log your exercises in the app, then you can just set the Activity Level accordingly to your weekly physical activity.
